Health Information Exchange / Personal Health Record

Sharing clinical information is important for medical staff members to grasp the background of patients in order to avoid drug allergy. Recently, much attention has been paid to personal health record (PHR) as an example of health information exchange application. We develop a platform for PHR that enables us to share clinical data among different systems using FHIR. With financial support by AMED under Grant Number 17ek0210039h0003, we and other excellent collaborators are proceeding the research.

Medical Support for Resource-Poor Regions through the Miyagi Medical and Welfare Information Network

With funding from Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED), we have carried out research on remote clinical consultation for medically underserved regions in Miyagi Prefecture. In this research, we have conducted randomized controlled trial to examine the efficacy of specialist support for patients with a risk of cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, or renal disease. We believe that this support will help prevent aggravation of the diseases and patients will have a good prognosis. Based on the outcome of the research, we will make a guideline to promote the health of the residents in medically underserved areas.
